Used in Ways I Didn’t Expect

Brett spoke at our church on August 29.  Not that long ago, he said, “I don’t think the Lord will ever use me to speak in front of people. I think He will use me to help build churches or something with construction.”  Brett has yet to build anything, but has been given the privilege and opportunity to speak in front of many churches and groups. On September 25, Brett  spoke at our church youth group with our youth Pastor.  Pastor Brant shared the Gospel and Brett shared some of his testimony from his teen years.  He shared that two things are certain in this life……..death, and the choice to accept God’s gift of salvation or reject it.  It’s a choice of spending eternity in Heaven with our Savior Jesus, or separated from Him forever.  He explained that we all have to make this decision at some point.  101 teens attended. 7 accepted Jesus for the first time, and 8 renewed and affirmed their faith.

How sweet the sound must be in heaven when one soul gets saved!!!

“Our God is a God of salvation, and to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.”  — Psalm 68:20

“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” — Luke 15:10

Brett and Justin, in blue, also a revive Indiana missionary, praying with a Greenville OH Pastor.

Unexpected answered prayers occurred in Greenville, Ohio! When I (Monica) meet people that have experienced great tragedy, deep hurts, and hardships in their lives and they share it with me,  I’m overwhelmingly burdened.  It consumes me, and weighs so heavy on me that I really struggle with letting go of them and giving them to God.  I have asked God for help with this.  In Greenville, Ohio, on an afternoon when I was struggling with this, Rhonda from Flint MI, asked me to go have coffee with her. I had never met her before. We talked. She shared with me that she has also struggled with this.  She shared with me that she imagines an alter like Abraham put Isaac on.  She said to imagine laying them on the alter before the Lord.  What a picture!  It has really helped me.  My Heavenly Father is showing me that they belong to him.  I am here to love, listen and share with them.  When I leave their city He will take care of them, and I am learning to rest in that.

God hears our prayers, He is faithful and shows us mercy and grace sometimes at the most unexpected times.

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am He who will sustain you.  I have made you and I will carry you;  I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” — Isaiah 46:4 NIV

PRAYER – Lifting up of our souls to God, a pouring out of our heart to God, a spiritual incense to God, coming before the throne of grace, drawing close to God in friendship, fellowship and trust.

This has been a quiet few weeks.  We have been home and Brett has been recuperating from his hernia and hip replacement surgeries.

Kay, a very close family friend and my mom’s best friend for 50 years, passed away on September 11. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow because we will miss her so much. but we know that she is with her Savior now.

Brett will be going to Chicago October 17-23.  We will be heading to Dayton Ohio the 23-29, and to Richmond Indiana October 30-November 6.
