Reaching Into The Darkness

We met Mario in Jasper, Indiana.  One day Mario shared his story with Brett and I.  Mario became a believer in March of this year.  He shared how he was in a dark place.  Searching for something.  He was on drugs and alcohol and very depressed.  Suicide was on his mind and he said that only God kept him from doing it.  He shared how he cried out to God and said, “If you are real show me, I want to feel you.”  He said that he felt God touch him.  He started laughing and felt so happy.  His chains of depression were gone.  His addictions were gone.  He couldn’t believe it.  Mario feels like he wants to share what God has done for him with everyone.  He had gone out all week on teams to share with people out in the community of Jasper.  Brett had asked if he would like to share his testimony, he agreed, but was very nervous.   He shared his testimony on Thursday morning.   He also has been playing the Cajon Box Drum in the mornings for praise and worship time.  Mario is an amazing young man and God definitely has a plan for his life.

Our God is real and He is changing peoples lives.  He does reach down into the dark places and rescue hurting lost people.

Colossians 1:13
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Thankful for Firefighters!!
Dave & Mike from Jasper, Indiana Brett and I went to the Huntingburg Fire Department to pray with them and share the Gospel with them.  The Mayor got us in the door.  There were about 15 firemen that were attending training that evening.    We had a tour of all of their fire engines and equipment.  I was blessed to sit in a brand new $650,000 firetruck with a 75′ ladder on top. I turned on the lights and blew the horn. Pretty amazing!!  I think Brett was jealous.  Guess that’s when it’s great to be a girl!
We passed out wrist bands and Bibles to each one and Brett walked them through the scriptures.  Five guys volunteered to read the verses.  No one made any decisions but God’s word is powerful and we are praying it pierces their hearts.  We just happened to be there on a night that they were tearing a car apart. YES!!  We got to watch them use the Jaws of Life.  We owe a great deal of gratitude to firefighters everywhere.  They are amazing, courageous, dedicated and self sacrificing.  After watching them practice, we feel very confident that should an accident happen these are the type of men that we should all feel privileged to come to our rescue.

1 Corinthians 3: 6 & 7
“I planted the seed.  Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.  So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
