Always Opportunity
Even in the midst of trials & adversity God still presents opportunity’s….
Brett’s Mom was moved to rehab after two surgeries. We were with her the night she arrived at rehab and things weren’t going very smoothly. There was a mix up with her room. She was supposed to have a private room but she was put in a room with a woman. (I will call her Sally.) There was only one television & it was extremely loud (just like Brett used to listen to our TV.) It was turned so only Sally could see it and the curtain was pulled. Brett went on the other side of the curtain to ask if she would mind if he pulled the curtain back a little & turned the television so his Mom could see it too. It was the night of Trump’s Inauguration! Brett’s mom wanted to watch the Inaugural Balls. Sally responded, “That’s my television & she will have to get her own.” I was with Brett’s mom on the other side of the curtain and we were listening! All of us were a little shocked at how she responded. Then she said, “The reason I have it so loud is because I can’t hear out of my left ear.” Brett said, “I used to not hear out of my left ear either, but I have it back now.” She perked up and asked, “How did you get your hearing back?” Brett said, “Funny you should ask.” And God presented an opportunity…
Brett shared his testimony about how God restored his hearing. After they talked, Brett prayed with her and asked if he could come back and talk with her again. She said she would love to hear about his Church. Brett told her that he didn’t want to tell her about his Church, he wanted to talk to her about a relationship with Jesus. She said she wanted to hear more. Then Sally said, “You turn that television so your Mom can see it and pull the curtain back too !!” Brett’s mom said, “God works in mysterious ways.” And we all SMILED!!
A couple of days later Brett visited with Sally again and was blessed to shared the Gospel with her. No decision was made, but a seed was definitely planted. Sally told Brett that God put his mom in her room for a reason.
Isn’t it amazing how God still works in the middle of swirling events in this ever-changing world we live in!
‘He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”‘– Mark 16:15 NIV
A few days later, I was visiting my mother-in-law one morning at rehab. A woman that works there came up to me and she wanted to talk to me. I had never met her before but she had met Brett. So before I left, we were able to talk for a few minutes. She shared with me some things that she was struggling with and going through. She was a believer and even though she was working, we had time for a quick prayer together. Hopefully it was an encouragement to her, as it blessed me.
