1 John 3: 17-18
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?  Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

Here is an update on our new Ministry………

Our Name is “Serving Hands Ministries”  We are in the process of working with the Lawyer and the Accountant on getting the Ministry set up as a 501(c)(3), a nonprofit organization.  A Board of Directors is being set up, four have committed and we are prayerfully considering one other.  Our goal is to have it set up and running by January 1st, 2018 or as soon as possible.

Our Vision:

Repairing Hearts and Homes as the Ministry/Churches & Volunteers serve our community together.

Our Mission:

Serving Hands Ministries (SHM) mission will be ministering to peoples hearts by offering prayer, sharing the Gospel and offering Discipleship with them, and to provide service to vulnerable homeowners with critical repairs, and modifications to make their houses safer and more accessible, and to multiply resources for people in need by providing repairs, and light construction.

Our Strategy to accomplish our Mission:

SHM will be acting as a “Hub” in Connecting Community needs, often receiving referrals from other nonprofits, support agencies and individuals.  We will use available and capable volunteers, most often from local churches.  SHM will encourage churches to form teams of volunteers & unite many churches’ volunteer teams to make a greater impact on the community as they serve together with SHM.  SHM would also like to help local churches with ministry resources (“subcontractors, suppliers, etc.) if needed.

Our Clients:

Typically widows, seniors, people with disabilities and the poor.  SHM will be blessed and honored to serve people of all kinds of different backgrounds, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or other categories typically protected by law.

God is already showing us how He is working.  There is a Widow that received a new roof.  Her roof needed extensive roof repair before the weather turns bad.  This was ran through our home Church; we are blessed to have their full support and they are working with us while we get the Ministry set up.  The gentleman we are working alongside to fix the roof was talking to Brett about the Ministry, he mentioned that the conversation they were having might be a divine appointment.  A few days later he gave his life completely over to the Lord. Isn’t God amazing!!  Our eyes are being opened to how God has his own agenda and we just need to be obedient.

Also while working on that same roof a neighbor man who was in a wheel chair came over to ask if we could give him a quote for his leaking roof.  He is a Veteran.  He was diagnosed with Agent Orange.  He shared that he has not walked since 2006 and that he was going to the Doctor the next day because he was having trouble with his leg and they might have to amputate it.  A couple days later we were both at the Widows house and he came over to talk to us.  He said they did not have to amputate his leg but they found a tumor in his calf and they scheduled him for surgery.

We asked if we could pray with him about his surgery.  He accepted.  We talked and he said that he has a relationship with Christ and attends church in Goshen.  I truly believe that the Lord will bring the people to us that He wants us to minister to.

Brett is in contact with an organization that solely helps Veterans.  He is working on getting his roof provided for him at no cost to him.
